Abstract

The relocation of the capital city of the archipelago to East Kalimantan will have an impact on the development of the creative economy in the form of high demand for local products. Batik is one of the crafts that are in great demand by the community, East Kalimantan batik has a uniqueness in motifs inspired by the potential of nature, flora, fauna, and culture. The development of technology also plays a role in innovating in creating batik designs such as making digital designs. In this research, the author uses the Adobe Illustrator application to generate AI to produce batik motif designs. The method used is a qualitative experiment method using black orchid and hornbill motifs, experiments were carried out in 3 ways, namely (1) Prompt, (2) reference photos, and (3) reference to East Kalimantan batik motifs. The results obtained from this study, Adobe Illustrator generates designs based on the algorithm system if the prompt is in the form of input text, then if you input a photo of the object as a reference it will produce a motif design by following the color of the image from the reference, finally if you input the reference East Kalimantan batik motif the results obtained are motif designs based on the color of the reference, the weakness of designing batik using generate AI is that there are several errors in interpreting the shape of the motif so that design improvements need to be made by the designer.
